This home was designed around the clients dream of a 5 bedroom Plantation Style home with a Hampton’s feel: resulting in a modern traditional home for tropical Queensland. We created some quirky areas (by putting a playroom under the stairs and separating the bedrooms onto different floors) and focused on getting light and air into the home. The look is very much a family home, influenced by the Salt Lake City area in America. It was really important to develop the aspect of the house; taking in the easterly views and connecting the pool to the home by making it a focal point of the window vistas. Keeping it modern, with all of the fit-out and fittings, while maintaining the integrity of the character and style of the home was a main focus. Light voids and the use of stone added to the overall grandeur and style of the home. Using the Design Magic process, this home was built to budget while maximising the square meters available, and not over-capitalizing for the area. When the house was put on the market in 2012, it sold for well over $1 Million.
